This work presents an interview with Prof. Marcos Roberto Pinto on the challenges of public governance in Brazilian management. The discussion addresses the historical evolution from the patrimonialist model to contemporary governance, highlighting the Agency Theory and the relationship between principal and agent. The fundamental mechanisms of leadership, strategy, and control are explored, as well as the importance of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation. The interview also analyzes the structural obstacles to the effective implementation of governance in the Brazilian public sector and the ways to overcome them.
