PREVALENCE AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF GESTATIONAL SYPHILIS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF AUGUSTINÓPOLIS, TOCANTINS, FROM 2012 TO 2022

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the etiological agent Treponema pallidum. Its most observed form of transmission is through unprotected sexual contact, other means of spreading syphilis occur through congenital, gestational or through contact with contaminated blood. This research aims to evaluate the epidemiological profile of gestational syphilis in the period 2012 - 2022 in the city of Augustinópolis - TO and is characterized as an epidemiological study of a quantitative and exploratory-descriptive nature. In the aforementioned period, 112 cases of syphilis in pregnant women were reported, with the predominantly affected profile characterized by brown, young and domestic women. When observing the level of health care in which the notifications were made, it is noted that most were made at the level of Primary Health Care (PHC). The trimester of pregnancy corresponding to the cases was the 3rd trimester, with the most common clinical form of the disease and treatment scheme, in that order, tertiary syphilis and treatment with Penicillin G Benzathine 7.200,000 IU. Regarding the partners of the notified pregnant women, most did not undergo the treatment scheme due to loss of contact with the pregnant woman. It is imperative to exercise strategies aimed at mitigating the elucidated situation, with the aim of disseminating information about gestational syphilis and instructing the population about the disease, its symptoms, and the importance of respecting the treatment regimen - both the patient and their sexual partnerships
