Abstract

Obstetric violence is characterized by disrespectful practices and physical and psychological abuse during childbirth, compromising women’s dignity and rights, as well as causing physical and emotional harm. The study aimed to identify the impacts of obstetric violence on women’s mental health through a literature review conducted in databases such as Scielo, PubMed, and the Virtual Health Library (VHL) from February to May 2026. Full-text scientific articles published in the last eight years, available for free, and in Portuguese were considered. The results showed that the impacts on women’s mental health include the development of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, highlighting the need for humane, respectful, and high-quality care.
