This article brings as a central theme reading as a habit of elementary school students, thus, the objective of this work is to present factors that can enhance, in stimulating the development of this habit. The adopted methodology is of a qualitative nature, being used as a data collection instrument the literature review, thus, it was through readings and reflections in articles, journals and scientific books that some initial results can be obtained, such as: the relevance of using different methodologies and the importance of the role of the teacher and the family in this process.
