Traditional communities in the State of Paraná are characterized by unique ways of life closely linked to their territories, culture, and sustainable use of natural resources, requiring differentiated and culturally sensitive approaches from public institutions. This article analyzes the assistance protocols adopted by the Military Police of Paraná (PMPR) when dealing with individuals belonging to traditional peoples and communities, considering national and international legal frameworks, human rights principles, and the protection of cultural diversity. This research adopts a qualitative approach, based on bibliographic, documentary, and normative review, seeking to understand the operational and institutional challenges inherent in police work in these contexts. The findings revealed that the PMPR has a specific operational protocol for incidents involving indigenous peoples, but no equivalent protocols were identified for other traditional communities present in the state. The study highlights the need to expand institutional normative instruments in order to improve legal certainty for police officers, strengthen the protection of fundamental rights, and enhance the legitimacy and effectiveness of police actions. It is concluded that the development of specific operational guidelines represents an important mechanism for improving public security policies and promoting culturally appropriate police practices.
