PREGNANCY AND BREAST CANCER: CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES IN NURSING CARE

Breast cancer during pregnancy is a rare and complex condition, requiring comprehensive and humanized care. This study highlights the diagnostic, therapeutic, and emotional challenges faced by pregnant women, as well as the importance of nursing in providing support, psychological counseling, health education, and treatment adherence. It emphasizes the need for specific protocols and multidisciplinary strategies capable of promoting safe, effective, and patient-centered care, strengthening evidence-based practice. To analyze the challenges faced by pregnant women with breast cancer and to describe nursing strategies for comprehensive, humanized care during treatment. An integrative, qualitative, and exploratory review was conducted using the LILACS, BDENF, SciELO, and MEDLINE databases, including 17 articles published between 2021 and 2026, analyzing the challenges and contributions of nursing in oncological gestational care. The results revealed emotional, physical, social, and economic difficulties faced by pregnant women during cancer treatment. Fear, anxiety, psychological distress, physical limitations, and difficulties accessing health services were highlighted. Nursing played an essential role through welcoming, health education, emotional support, and individualized care. The need for specific protocols and strengthening of multidisciplinary action was observed, aiming to promote comprehensive, humanized care, improve quality of life, and strengthen evidence-based practice in contemporary maternal-oncological care. It is concluded that pregnant women undergoing cancer treatment face significant physical, emotional, and social challenges. Nursing plays an essential role in welcoming, health education, emotional support, and individualized care. The importance of multidisciplinary action and expanding access to specialized services is highlighted, aiming to promote comprehensive, humanized care during pregnancy monitoring.
