Abstract

The main objective of this research is to discuss the results of academic research published in the CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations on decolonial studies in Chemistry teaching, from 2018 to 2023. Thus, we selected six dissertations. The results revealed that it is essential to have changes in Chemistry teaching to promote a liberating education, with pedagogical practices that recognize and value the sociocultural knowledge brought by students. Therefore, the Chemistry curriculum must value decolonial thinking, resignify colonial teaching practices, valuing popular knowledge that corroborated the critical formation of citizens.
