The increase in personal data breaches in the current context has highlighted the importance of civil liability, especially after the creation of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). In Brazil, this relationship arises due to technological advancements and their increasingly constant presence in people's daily lives, creating the need to protect the rights of these individuals, with privacy as a central point. This work aims to analyze civil liability in light of doctrinal understandings. It is relevant to understand how the LGPD influences the liability of controllers and operators in the processing of personal data. A qualitative methodology is used, based on bibliographic and documentary research, supported by works of authors in the legal field and relevant scientific articles. News related to the topic is also considered, in order to contextualize and highlight the impacts of these data breaches in the Brazilian scenario.
