This paper aims to discuss the civil liability of parents in the context of parental emotional abandonment and to analyze the compensatory implications of this behavior within the Brazilian legal system, with an emphasis on the emotional consequences for children and adolescents. We used a bibliographical approach, characterized by the collection and analysis of already published materials, such as books, scientific articles, dissertations, theses, and other academic documents related to the topic of parental emotional abandonment and parental civil liability. The study was based on the analysis of legal doctrines and jurisprudence, as well as legal documents addressing the topic. Thus, we focused on constitutional principles in order to investigate possible legal solutions to ensure the fulfillment of parental emotional duties and promote the well-being of children in cases of emotional abandonment.
