This article sought to analyze the trajectory, impact, and reorganization of research groups in the face of contemporary health demands. Through a quantitative bibliometric approach based on data from the Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (DGP/CNPq), the investigation mapped 16 certified groups using tools such as VOSviewer and MapChart. The results showed that national research is sustained by a high level of academic qualification, with 56.66% of members holding a doctoral degree, and revealed a hegemony of federal and state public institutions, with emphasis on the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), which leads the volume of publications (26.75%). It was identified that "vacina" is the central keyword, with significant efforts related to emerging viral diseases and parasitic pathologies. The collaboration networks showed distinct poles, highlighting the Instituto de Gestão Estratégica de Saúde do Distrito Federal (IGESDF) in traditional methods, Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) in technological innovation, and the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ) in epidemiology and public health. It is concluded that state investment and the excellence of public universities are fundamental for Brazilian scientific sovereignty.
