Acute tonsillitis is an inflammation of the palatine tonsils, usually of viral or bacterial origin, and is one of the main causes of medical consultations in Primary Health Care. Given this, this study aimed to analyze the profile of consultations for acute tonsillitis in the São Francisco Valley, focusing on the municipalities of Juazeiro-BA and Petrolina-PE, from 2021 to 2025. For this purpose, a retrospective study was conducted based on secondary data obtained from the Health Information System for Primary Care (SISAB), using records classified under the CIAP-2 code R76. During the analyzed period, 8,815 consultations were recorded, with a higher concentration in the adult age group (20 to 59 years), corresponding to 45.09%, followed by children (0 to 9 years) at 35.72%, adolescents (10-19 years) at 17.23%, and the elderly (60 years and older) at 1.96%. Variation was observed throughout the months, with periods of higher incidence, as well as differences between the analyzed municipalities, showing a slight predominance of consultations in Petrolina-PE. Thus, acute tonsillitis has a significant impact on Primary Health Care, highlighting the need to strengthen strategies for prevention, early diagnosis, and the rational use of antimicrobials, contributing to the improvement of health service quality.
