This work addresses violence against women in Brazil, analyzing its structural, social, and cultural causes, as well as the effectiveness of public policies and laws to confront this problem. The aim of the study is to understand the factors that contribute to the persistence of gender-based violence, even in the face of significant legal advances, such as the Maria da Penha Law and the Femicide Law, in addition to highlighting the role of patriarchy and historical inequalities in maintaining this scenario. As a result, it was observed that, despite the existing legal framework, violence against women remains high, influenced by the low effectiveness of public policies, the underutilization of resources, the normalization of machismo, and the population's low awareness of their rights. Thus, it is concluded that addressing this problem requires not only legal measures, but also educational, preventive, and structural actions capable of promoting social changes and reducing gender-based violence in the country.
