This study aimed to analyze, through netnography, the aspects surrounding Immobility Syndrome in older adults based on YouTube videos. Immobility Syndrome is characterized by the inability or reduction of body movements and postural stability, compromising the independence of older adults. In this context, understanding the factors that contribute to this condition is essential to prevent associated complications. This is a qualitative and exploratory study based on the netnographic technique proposed by Kozinets. A total of 33 videos were identified using the combined keywords: “immobility syndrome” and “older adults”; “immobility” and “older adults,” of which 10 were selected based on previously established eligibility criteria. It was found that the main factors contributing to immobility in older adults include prolonged hospitalization, iatrogenic events, neurological diseases, among others, as well as the complications resulting from prolonged immobility and possible intervention strategies. However, there remains a predominance of a functional and rehabilitative emphasis, to the detriment of a broader approach encompassing psychosocial, environmental, preventive, and longitudinal care dimensions for older adults.
