Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common metabolic complications in pregnancy, requiring constant surveillance in Primary Care. The objective of this study was to describe the overview of GDM in Juazeiro-BA and Petrolina-PE, from 2021 to 2025, analyzing the number of consultations by professional category and age group. This is a descriptive, time-series study using secondary data from the Health Information System for Primary Care (SISAB). The results showed a total of 895 records in Juazeiro and 4,455 in Petrolina. In both cities, the peak of notifications occurred in 2023. The professional category with the highest volume of care was nursing, followed by medicine and nutrition. The prevalent age group was 20 to 59 years old, although a relevant number of cases were recorded among adolescents (10 to 19 years old). It is concluded that nurses play a central role in the management of GDM in the region, highlighting the need to strengthen multiprofessional integration and the accuracy of records in official systems to support local public policies.
