This article analyzes educational and vocational programs as tools for the resocialization of incarcerated individuals at the Anísio Jobim Prison Complex (COMPAJ) in Manaus, Amazonas. Based on the constitutional principles of human dignity and the resocializing function of punishment, the study examines the Brazilian regulatory framework, notably the Criminal Enforcement Act (Law No. 7,210/1984), Decree No. 7,626/2011, and the State Plans for Education and Work in the Amazonas Penal System (2024–2026), as well as international human rights standards. The study identifies the types of projects implemented, assesses the perceptions of inmates and managers, and evaluates their impacts on social reintegration, adopting a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach. The results highlight progress in the diversification of activities, made possible by partnerships with SEAP/AM, higher education institutions, and third-party companies, but reveal persistent structural deficits: limited availability of spots, inadequate infrastructure, insufficient psychosocial support, and weaknesses in post-incarceration reintegration mechanisms. Although such projects are effective in reducing idleness and preparing for social reintegration, their full effectiveness depends on increased public investment, the consolidation of institutional partnerships, and the implementation of robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
