OVERVIEW OF EVENTS THAT CONSOLIDATED ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN BRAZIL

Abstract

This article provides an overview of Environmental Education events in Brazil, presenting results that have marked the history of Environmental Education and demonstrating its contributions. It was observed that Environmental Education was initially part of the environmental movement, which gave visibility to the emergence of debates, projects, and laws that together contributed to and strengthened the implementation of Environmental Education over the years. It is in constant transformation, (re)formulation, and (re)construction, generating awareness and consciousness among individuals and the community about man, society, and nature, regarding the conservation and preservation of the environment, becoming an instrument for disseminating environmental ideas, and should increasingly be seen as essential, occupying spaces in formal and non-formal education.
