The present study examines the contributions of mathematical games as facilitating tools for teaching mathematics in the 5th grade of Elementary Education. The research arose from internship experiences, in which student demotivation during mathematics classes was observed. For this study, a qualitative research approach was used, with data collection through a questionnaire applied to teachers in the area designated as P1 and P2. This work is based on the studies of Moreira (2014) and Piaget (1978), as well as the guidelines of the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC, 2018), which highlight the importance of pedagogical strategies that favor the construction of knowledge and the development of student learning. From the analysis of the responses, it was possible to conclude that mathematical games contribute to student learning, favoring socialization, motivation, and concentration, thus configuring themselves as a dynamic tool in the teaching and learning process, which demonstrates their importance in the school context.
