This article aims to address the impacts and main clinical characteristics of Oropouche Fever, a little-known and studied viral disease, which is often confused with other arboviruses. A systematic review was carried out based on the PICOS strategy. We searched for articles that presented Oropouche Fever and its impacts on the Brazilian population as the focus of the study. It was found that the virus was known as “benign”, since it did not present signs of severity for the population. However, this changed after OROV outbreaks in 2023 and 2024 that led to complications and even death of individuals. The symptoms of Oropouche Fever are analogous to the clinical signs of other arboviruses and, if not treated correctly, causes neurological worsening and then death. It is concluded that the tropical disease requires further studies and exploratory research on its pathogenesis, aiming firstly to increase scientific knowledge to better inform the population of endemic areas of Oropouche Fever, consequently preventing other outbreaks of this disease.
