Population aging is a global phenomenon that challenges the maintenance of individual autonomy. This article analyzes how the integration between strength training and proper nutrition impacts the functional capacity of elderly individuals. The objective is to elucidate the mechanisms by which these interventions combat sarcopenia and promote independence in Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL). The methodology consists of a qualitative bibliographic review, based on guidelines from organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), as well as contemporary studies. The results indicate that strength training induces neural and morphological adaptations essential for balance and fall prevention, while nutritional support, especially protein intake and micronutrients such as Vitamin D and Calcium, acts synergistically in preserving muscle mass. It is concluded that the interdisciplinary approach between physical exercise and nutrition is decisive for successful aging, ensuring the elderly maintain their autonomy and significantly improve their quality of life.
