This article sought to analyze, through a literature review, the main challenges faced by nursing professionals in the care of patients experiencing psychotic episodes in the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU). The study aimed to understand the factors that interfere with care provided in situations of psychological crisis, considering technical, ethical and humanized aspects of care. Methodologically, this is a literature review developed from the selection and analysis of scientific publications from recent years in recognized databases, focusing on nursing performance in psychiatric urgency and emergency care. The results showed that the main challenges include difficulty in communicating with patients during psychotic episodes, the risk of aggressive behavior, the need for rapid decision-making, limited resources in the pre-hospital environment, and insufficient specific training of professionals. It was also observed that qualified care depends on technical-scientific preparation, therapeutic listening, and articulation with the psychosocial care network. It is concluded that nursing plays an essential role in the initial management of these patients, and it is necessary to strengthen professional training and the humanization of care.
