Assistive technology comprises a set of tools, products, and services aimed at enhancing or expanding the functional abilities of people with disabilities, promoting their autonomy, independence, and improved quality of life. This article investigates the role of this technology as a facilitator of social, educational, and professional inclusion, exploring its different categories, practical applications, and effects on the daily lives of users. Thru a literature review, it addresses how assistive technology has challenged traditional paradigms of accessibility and inclusion, reducing obstacles and encouraging more equitable participation in society. The data collected demonstrate that, when applied correctly, these technologies not only compensate for functional limitations but also enhance capabilities, significantly contributing to ensuring the rights of people with disabilities and fostering a more democratic and inclusive society.
