This study addresses the importance of curriculum adaptation for the effective implementation of inclusive education, based on the understanding that school inclusion is not limited to students’ access to regular education, but also requires concrete conditions for their participation, permanence, and learning. In this context, curriculum adaptation plays a fundamental role, as it allows for the flexibilization of teaching and the adjustment of pedagogical practices to the specific needs of students, making the curriculum more accessible, sensitive, and committed to the diversity present in the school environment. The general objective of the research was to analyze the importance of curriculum adaptation for the effective implementation of inclusive education, considering its contributions to students’ learning, participation, and development in the school context. This study is justified by the social, educational, and pedagogical relevance of the theme, since many schools still face challenges in transforming the principles of inclusion into concrete practices capable of meeting students’ individual needs and ensuring the right to learn with quality and equity. Methodologically, the research was developed through a literature review, with a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, based on scientific publications and legal documents related to inclusive education and curriculum adaptation, found in academic platforms such as Google Scholar, SciELO, and the CAPES Periodicals Portal. The analysis of the material made it possible to understand that curriculum adaptation is an indispensable element for school inclusion to become effective, as it fosters more flexible, humanized, and coherent pedagogical practices aligned with the students’ reality. It is concluded that the effective implementation of inclusive education depends on the commitment of the school, the training of teachers, and the construction of pedagogical strategies that recognize and value diversity as an essential part of the educational process.
