Teaching practice is composed of daily challenges and triumphs, involving social, school, and training issues. These challenges reflect the complexity of teaching, which encompasses structural and institutional aspects, as well as the more personal and dynamic dimensions of daily school life. Teaching practice demands solid training and goes beyond the transmission of knowledge, acting as a mediation between content and the student. The material conditions of the school significantly interfere with pedagogical work. Therefore, this study aims to verify the challenges faced by Physical Education teachers working in a municipality in the Itajaí Valley (SC), during the teaching and learning process. This was a qualitative research study, conducted with ten Physical Education teachers through recorded semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using qualitative analysis, organized into two Thematic Units subdivided into categories emerging from the content of the interviews. The results showed that the main challenges faced by teachers are related to inadequate material conditions in schools, such as lack of equipment, limited space, and insufficient infrastructure, as well as difficulties such as the lack of courses, meetings, and continuing education that support professional development. Furthermore, it was identified that teachers adopt different pedagogical strategies to overcome these limitations and continue conducting classes.
