The main objective is to investigate the knowledge of the multidisciplinary team regarding pain management in newborns. This is a descriptive, exploratory field research study with a qualitative approach. The study included 15 professionals who are part of the multidisciplinary team. Data were collected through recorded semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Bardin's content analysis technique. Overall, the participants were between 22 and 42 years old, all female, with experience ranging from 2 years and 6 months to 18 years. The vast majority reported having training in their area of expertise. They reported identifying neonatal pain through behavioral and physiological signs and using pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures for pain control, with the latter being the most frequently used. In this sense, the importance of strategies like these becomes clear for providing more assertive and effective care for newborns, in order to restore their health early and minimize the harm caused by hospitalization.
