Spirituality has been recognized as an essential dimension of health care, especially in the context of obstetric nursing care, which requires humanized and comprehensive approaches. This study aimed to analyze the importance of spirituality in obstetric nursing care as a factor that promotes humanized and comprehensive care for women. This was a qualitative study, conducted as a bibliographic review, based on scientific articles, books, dissertations, theses, and official documents published mainly between 2016 and 2025, available in national and international databases, with an emphasis on publications in the Portuguese language. The review made it possible to understand spirituality as a constitutive dimension of nursing care, highlighting its direct relationship with the humanization of obstetric care and the strengthening of the bond between nurses, pregnant women, and parturients. The results show that the incorporation of spirituality contributes to reducing emotional distress, respecting women’s individuality, and promoting more positive experiences during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle. It was concluded that spirituality represents a relevant resource for qualifying obstetric nursing practice, reinforcing the need for investments in professional education and in the consolidation of women-centered care models.
