This study is a systematic review that aimed to identify the occurrence of Brazilian studies on the psychological aspects that permeate the institutional care of children and adolescents and analyze their content. With this research we hoped to find the recurring psychological issues in the role of psychologists in institutional care for children and adolescents in Brazil. The delimitation of the study and the selection of articles were defined according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search was carried out on the CAPES journal portal. The search included articles published between 2015 and 2025. Of the total of 53 articles found on the topic, ten were selected to include this review. The results showed an overview of what has already been studied on the topic in the national literature, indicating that the majority deals with the family reintegration of those sheltered. The importance of expanding studies in the area, which is characterized by its complexity, is considered.
