This research presents a specific methodology focused on the comprehensive literacy process for all students in the early years of elementary school, with the central aim of understanding the construction of the entire literacy process in the 2nd year of elementary school. The ECIMtômetro (the project's name) is based on the premise of grouping students by developmental levels, facilitating the consolidation of literacy. It is a project implemented at the Nelson Castanha Civic-Military Municipal School, located in the Encruzilhada de São João neighborhood, in a peripheral area of the city of Bezerros, in the Pernambuco hinterland. It is supported by the work of Soares (2021), Freire (1996), Ferreiro (2017), Teberosky (2020), among others, who share this focus on the process and consolidation of literacy. Considering that grouping by level allows the teacher to better direct pedagogical practice, since everyone is at the same stage of alphabetic development. This fact, when conducting the bimonthly diagnostic assessment, makes it possible to monitor the child's development, progress to another level, and/or their continued progress at the current level. At the same time, it also allows the teacher to evaluate their actions and pedagogical practices. However, it is possible to measure and attest to the effectiveness of the project with the results presented in the diagnostic assessments and, consequently, in the external assessments.
