Abstract

Philosophy is of fundamental relevance to the educational process. In this sense, this subject helps students with critical thinking to position themselves in the complex dynamics of everyday life. Considering this, this study aims to analyze the importance. Of philosophy in education, and as specific objectives to conceptualize and explain the importance of education, conceptualize philosophy, relate education and philosophy and discuss how philosophy is relevant in the educational sphere. The Scientific Electronic Library On Line - SciELO, Philósophos - Revista de Filosofia, Google Academic databases were consulted, as well as books related to the topic. The following descriptors were used alone or in combination: education, philosophy, teaching. Articles with no time limit were included, in the Portuguese language. In addition, books of classic works were used. When selecting the material, the abstracts were read to identify the articles most in line with the research objectives. This study aims to analyze the importance of philosophy in education, and as specific objectives to conceptualize and explain the importance of education, conceptualize philosophy, relate education and philosophy and discuss how philosophy is relevant in the educational sphere. It was verified during this study that philosophy plays a fundamental role in education, considering that it supports a framework that allows the student to have a broader understanding to position themselves in the face of everyday issues.
