This article discusses science teaching in the early years of elementary school based on the guidelines of the Brazilian National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC). It analyzes how the document guides the development of scientific literacy, highlighting general competencies, specific competencies, and skills focused on investigation, argumentation, and understanding of natural phenomena. Based on bibliographic review, focusing on BNCC, the study emphasizes the need for investigative pedagogical practices and active methodologies to promote meaningful learning. The work reinforces the teacher's role as a mediator and presents didactic strategies aligned with the skills of the BNCC. It is concluded that the BNCC provides consistent support for organizing science teaching in the early years, contributing to the formation of critical individuals capable of interpreting reality through a scientific perspective.
