Abstract

This study aims to promote environmental awareness among Elementary School students through pedagogical practices that integrate theory and playfulness, developed within the scope of the “Transforming the Future” project. The research adopted a qualitative and participatory approach, conducted in a public school in Macapá/AP, Brazil. The activities were structured into four sequential stages: a dialogic lecture, gamification using the Kahoot platform, a vertical garden workshop applying upcycling, and a selective waste collection activity. The results show that the use of active methodologies and visual resources favored the understanding of complex concepts such as circular economy and ethics of responsibility. It was also observed that collaborative learning and direct contact with soil enhanced student engagement, contributing to the transition from passive listeners to active protagonists in the educational process. The study concludes that the articulation between theoretical knowledge and practical experiences is essential for the development of critical awareness and for the consolidation of sustainable habits in the school context. The project demonstrated that playful strategies go beyond merely informative approaches, strengthening social protagonism and the culture of environmental preservation among younger generations.
