The use of body-worn câmeras has become a strategic tool to enhance transparency, legitimacy, and operacional efficiency in public security institutions across Brazil. Within the Military Police of Amazonas (PMAM), the implementaion of this technology faces particular challenges related to the states´s vast geography, technological infrastructure limitations, high operational costs, and institutional resistance. Despite these obstacles national and internacional evidence shows that body-worn cameras help reduce conflicts, improve evidence collection, and strengthen legal protection for both officers and civilians. They also contribute to better oversight and accountability mechanisms, This article examines the difficulties and future prospects for expanding the use body-worn cameras within PMAM, emphasizing their potential to modernize public security practices in the Amazon region.
