Abstract

Anxiety disorders appear very early in the lives of those affected, starting in childhood. The worsening of this anxiety disorder becomes detrimental and evident after forced contact with others. Faced with fulfilling their dream of entering university, young people now face enormous responsibilities that lead to the development of stress and/or anxiety disorders. To describe the factors that contribute to the development of anxiety in nursing students. This was an integrative literature review on the proposed topic. The research was conducted through a bibliographic survey and several electronic platforms. Results: Taking exams, tests, and presenting papers are highly stressful situations for students, and in most cases are one of the main risk factors for the development of anxiety. Other factors in the academic world that can be cited are: concern about not being qualified to care for patients, inability to communicate effectively, and administering the wrong medication. Therefore, it is crucial that universities work to prevent the worsening of anxiety disorders by promoting and preventing mental health and well-being in this population through screening, diagnosis, and early treatment.
