WITH AN EYE ON THE ISLAND

Abstract

This work aims to present the "De Olho na Ilha" (Keeping an Eye on the Island) project, a digital platform developed to improve communication between the population and public authorities in the face of growing demands related to urban problems in São Luís (MA). The investigation was conducted through a case study applied to the city's context and qualitative research, which allowed for an in-depth understanding of citizens' interaction with public services and an evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed tool. The platform allows users to register and track incidents related to lighting, security, cleaning, and infrastructure, centralizing this information in a single accessible environment. The results demonstrate that the initiative contributes to greater transparency and agility in the management of requests, in addition to stimulating social engagement and co-responsibility in the maintenance of the city. It is concluded that the project strengthens citizen participation and represents a significant advance in the search for technological solutions aimed at the continuous improvement of urban public services.
