In Brazil, drowning is one of the leading causes of infant mortality, representing a serious and persistent public health problem. Faced with this alarming reality, the adoption of preventive measures, educational programs, and the implementation of effective strategies aimed at reducing death rates and the possible sequelae resulting from these aquatic accidents are essential. Public awareness, education focused on aquatic safety, and access to adequate and continuous information are essential elements in this prevention process. This article aims to analyze, understand, and discuss the main strategies for preventing childhood drowning, considering educational actions, public policies, awareness campaigns, and professional training. The study was developed from consultations in databases of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics (SBP) and the Brazilian Society of Aquatic Rescue (SOBRASA), and scientific articles, seeking to gather evidence, best practices, and effective solutions to reduce this type of accident.
