Abstract

Artificial intelligence has enabled a new way of interpreting and implementing law. However, legal practice cannot be trivialized and treated as something "simplistic" to the point where writing petitions and seeking guidance are exclusively done through artificial cognition. This work aims to discuss a way to balance the use of artificial intelligence in law as a complement and not as an "end" in itself, to maintain the human perspective on situations. To acquire the necessary data, electronic bibliographic searches were conducted in national computerized databases, using the following combined words in Portuguese: Artificial Intelligence as a means of legal support, Process Automation; Legal Ethics; Formality and Trivialization. Articles published between 2020 and 2025 were included. Artificial intelligence is already integrated into law, with potential for growth in the coming years. Its applications optimize tasks such as document analysis and jurisprudential research. However, this advancement demands attention to the ethical and legal impacts, especially regarding transparency, data protection, and accountability for automated decisions. And, despite the advances, it is essential to consider the ethical aspects involved, the need for transparency in algorithmic systems, and the preservation of human resources, individual rights, and the unique analysis of each case. It is necessary for the legal system to evolve proportionally to technological progress, to maintain the perspicacity of legal professionals and the trust that society places in the judiciary.
