Maternal grief, experienced by women around the world, is marked by intense emotions such as sadness, anger, frustration, guilt, and a sense of emptiness. In most cases of neonatal loss, the hospital environment is directly involved, making it essential to provide support to the mother, who faces not only the physical repercussions of the loss but also deep emotional consequences. In this context, the role of the psychologist is crucial in welcoming and offering appropriate support to grieving mothers. This study aims to conduct a literature review on maternal grief resulting from the loss of a newborn, with emphasis on psychological intervention strategies and the main challenges faced by psychology professionals. Through the analysis of academic studies, scientific articles, and specialized publications, the goal is to gather theoretical contributions that help improve psychological care for these women, promoting a broader and well-founded understanding of the topic.
