The article discusses the internationalization of small Brazilian enterprises, with an emphasis on the food industry, highlighting both difficulties and prospects. The study employs qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive methods, encompassing theoretical review, documentary analysis, and the case of Maíz Food, which successfully exported corn cakes to the European market. Theoretical models related to micro and small enterprises are introduced: Product Life Cycle, Eclectic Paradigm, Uppsala School, and Innovation Model. Such enterprises will strengthen their competitive advantage based on the valorization of cultural identity, adequate strategic responses, and institutional support—overcoming financial, technological, cultural, and regulatory resource obstacles, according to the conclusions. Although limited by nature, internationalization is a relevant means for sustainable development, innovation, and competitive incorporation of small Brazilian enterprises, particularly those operating in the food sector, in which tradition and culture serve as competitive distinctions in the global market.
