THE ROLE OF NURSES IN CASES OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT SEXUAL ABUSE

Child sexual abuse is a serious public health problem.Objective: To identify the practices used by nurses in the care of children and adolescents who are victims of sexual abuse.Methodology: An integrative review of publications from 2018 to 2024 was conducted, analyzing studies addressing nurses’ actions in cases of child and adolescent sexual abuse. Both qualitative and quantitative studies were included to map strategies and challenges.Results: Three main areas of nursing practice were identified: victim support, active listening, and proper documentation. The importance of emotional preparation and integration with the protection network was also highlighted.Conclusion: Support, active listening, and accurate documentation are essential for safe and humanized care.
