Aim: Nursing care is guided by technical and scientific knowledge, clinical management, and ethical and moral principles to ensure assertive, humanized, and high-quality care. The Nursing Care Systematization (NCS) standardizes and organizes these actions, promoting safety and assertiveness in care. In the context of neonatal care, its application is essential due to the need for continuous and individualized attention. Materials and Methods: This work aims to demonstrate the status of the implementation of the NCS in Brazilian NICUs, affirming its importance. Results: Studies have highlighted that the NCS directly contributes to the organization and qualification of nursing care, allowing for humanized, targeted, and qualified care. The computerization of records and the integration of technologies in the application of the SAE optimizes the process and reduces errors, although challenges such as work overload, limited infrastructure, and the need for continuous training persist. The SAE depends on institutional and professional commitment to become established. Conclusion: The Nursing Care Systematization (SAE) improves nursing care and work, enhances communication, and reduces errors. However, structural and educational barriers remain, requiring investment in training and management to consolidate the SAE in NICUs and strengthen the quality of neonatal care.
