Vaginal prolapse in cattle is a common condition during the late gestation period and postpartum, characterized by partial or total externalization of the vagina. This condition is associated with anatomical, physiological, and environmental factors, including excessive relaxation of the pelvic ligaments, genetic predisposition, hormonal disorders, obesity, inflammation, multiple pregnancies, and management failures such as inadequate flooring and rough transportation. The clinical development is progressive, beginning with intermittent exposure of the vaginal mucosa, which may evolve into inflammatory lesions, infections, and impaired fertility. Prolapse occurs more frequently in multiparous cows and has a high recurrence rate. This study aimed to describe a clinical case in which the animal presented vaginal prolapse. The patient underwent surgical correction, achieved proper healing, showed no recurrence, and was directed to fattening, considering the unfeasibility of maintaining her in breeding activities due to the potential risk of prolapse during a future calving.Early diagnosis and appropriate management are essential to preserve reproductive function and animal welfare. Identifying and controlling predisposing factors are key to effective prevention of this condition within the herd.
