Postpartum recovery involves physical and emotional aspects that are directly influenced by nutritional status. During the postpartum period, a woman's body undergoes intense hormonal and physiological changes, requiring a balanced diet that promotes her well-being during this time. The objective was to verify how nutritional status impacts physical and emotional recovery in the postpartum period. The methodology was based on a literature review in which 9 scientific articles found in the BVS, LILACS, SCIELO, and PUBMED databases were selected. Inclusion criteria considered studies conducted with adult women in the postpartum period in the last ten years. The results showed that an unbalanced diet, the absence of breastfeeding, and excessive weight gain during pregnancy are associated with weight retention in the postpartum period. Furthermore, the emotional state of the postpartum woman also proved to be a relevant factor in this context. It is suggested that a balanced diet, combined with nutritional monitoring, favors the postpartum woman's recovery by complementing her physical and emotional needs, promoting health and well-being during this delicate period.
