Dental occlusion is one of the fundamental pillars of oral health and the functional balance of the stomatognathic system. Its study involves understanding the relationship between teeth, muscles, and joints, analyzing how masticatory forces directly influence facial harmony and patient comfort. This article aims to analyze the main concepts related to occlusion, its classifications, dysfunctions, and the importance of early diagnosis in the prevention of temporomandibular disorders. Scientific articles and specialized books were reviewed, covering topics from occlusal anatomy to contemporary restorative therapies, providing an understanding of the clinical relevance of this subject in dental practice.
