The objective of this study was to discuss the effectiveness of Negative Pressure Therapy, compared to conventional therapies, in the treatment of wounds. It consists of a review study, which follows the PRISMA guidelines, using articles available in the PubMed database. The initial search found a total of 24 studies, of which, after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 6 articles were rigorously selected for detailed analysis. The studies analyzed indicate that negative pressure therapy offers shorter healing times, lower infection rates, and shorter hospital stays compared to conventional approaches. The results indicate that the treatment can be effective for wound healing and elimination of complications, with antimicrobial action when using negative pressure therapy associated with instillation, when compared to traditional dressings. Early treatment leads to better results, but studies should be conducted to standardize protocols for wound management.
