Introduction, it is highlighted that the drug, originally indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, has been used indiscriminately, exposing individuals to risks such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and pancreatitis. The Objective of this study is to analyze the pharmacist’s role in prevention, guidance, and monitoring regarding the misuse of Ozempic, emphasizing its importance in promoting the rational use of medicines and patient safety. The Methodology applied was an integrative literature review, carried out in databases such as SciELO, PubMed, LILACS, and Google Scholar, considering publications between 2020 and 2025. The results show that the pharmacist acts as an essential agent in health education, reducing self-medication, and raising awareness about the risks associated with the inappropriate use of this drug. Development: The development of the research showed that the misuse of Ozempic is directly related to the influence of social media, aesthetic pressure, and the lack of adequate professional guidance. It was found that self-medication and off-label consumption increase the risks of gastrointestinal and metabolic adverse effects, making the pharmacist’s ethical and technical performance indispensable. By guiding and monitoring patients, the professional contributes to reducing self-medication, promoting therapeutic safety, and raising awareness about the dangers of inappropriate medication use. Conclusion: It is concluded that the pharmacist plays a fundamental role in promoting the rational use of Ozempic and in protecting public health. Their work must go beyond dispensing, encompassing health education, pharmacovigilance, and professional ethics. Thus, strengthening the presence and appreciation of the pharmacist is essential to prevent the misuse of medications and to contribute to safe and responsible healthcare for the population.
