Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a disease characterized by a slow, progressive, and irreversible decrease in the kidneys' ability to filter metabolic waste products from the blood. This significantly impacts the health, well-being, and quality of life of individuals, highlighting the importance of physiotherapy assistance in improving these aspects. The general objective was to understand the impact of physiotherapy on improving fatigue, well-being, and quality of life in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. A basic qualitative research methodology was used, employing a literature review through the search, reading, analysis, and selection of scientific articles, studies, journals, periodicals, dissertations, and theses in the health field published in the last 10 years in the databases Portal Regional da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), and Google Scholar. Based on the data and information collected, it was highlighted that physiotherapy constitutes an indispensable therapeutic strategy for managing fatigue and promoting the well-being and quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. Thus, the physiotherapist's role within the multidisciplinary team responsible for patient treatment is fundamental in promoting rehabilitation, contributing to fatigue reduction, improved functional capacity and independence, muscle strengthening, improved cardiorespiratory capacity, and improved physical health and well-being, ensuring comprehensiveness, effectiveness, safety, and humanization in healthcare.
