This study analyzed the importance of sports physiotherapy in emergency and urgent care on courts and fields, justified by the high incidence of injuries in high-speed sports such as soccer. The physiotherapist, traditionally linked only to rehabilitation, is being redefined as a crucial professional in immediate care. Their role ranges from cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and the use of defibrillators to the initial assessment and application of first aid protocols for musculoskeletal injuries (such as PRICE or POLICE). This immediate intervention is crucial to minimize serious sequelae and ensure effective recovery. The study used an integrative literature review in the PubMed, LILACS, and SciELO databases, selecting four publications. Qualitative analysis and methodological evaluation using the PEDro Scale indicated that most studies were descriptive/reflective in nature with low scientific evidence, and only one was classified as moderate quality. The results highlighted a consensus on the need for sports physiotherapists to assume an active and comprehensive role that encompasses prevention, immediate care, and rehabilitation. Sports physiotherapy has become indispensable, surpassing the exclusive role of rehabilitation. Technical expertise in first aid and biomechanics is vital for the clinical stabilization of the athlete and for the prevention of unfavorable prognoses. However, the study points to a lack of research with greater scientific rigor, reinforcing the need for more studies in the area.
