PHYSIOTHERAPY IN FIBROMYALGIA: PAIN CONTROL AND QUALITY OF LIFE

Fibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal pain syndrome, accompanied by fatigue, sleep disorders, cognitive and emotional difficulties, which impact quality of life. Physiotherapy is a non-pharmacological treatment, the application of which involves exercises, stretching, manual therapy and postural education, which is essential for controlling pain and promoting an improvement in patients' quality of life. The objective of this work was to carry out a literature review on the role of physiotherapy in controlling pain and improving the quality of life of patients with fibromyalgia. The research analyzed clinical studies, controlled trials and systematic reviews that evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic interventions in relieving symptoms. The main recommended therapeutic protocols were covered, such as aerobic exercise programs, muscle strengthening and relaxation techniques that support the importance of physiotherapy in the management of fibromyalgia. The work was prepared through bibliographical research, in the Scielo and PUBMED databases, from 2020 to 2025. Through this article, we hope to contribute a multifaceted view of the physiotherapeutic practices that contribute to improving the quality of life of these patients. Thus, reducing the intensity of pain and improving the physical and emotional state.
