ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL TRENDS IN BREJO SANTO – CEARÁ: AN INTERPRETATION OF REGIONAL DYNAMICS AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Abstract

This article aims to examine the main economic and social trends of the municipality of Brejo Santo – CE, considering its inclusion in the Cariri Planning Region, as well as its interaction and comparison with the urban centers of Juazeiro do Norte, Crato, and Barbalha (collectively known as CRAJUBAR). The research, based on official sources from the Institute of Research and Economic Strategy of Ceará (IPECE, 2025), the Annual Report of Social Information (RAIS/MTE, 2023), and the IBGE Demographic Censuses, seeks to understand the trends in productive, educational, social, and territorial development that shape the role of Brejo Santo in the economic balance of the Cariri region and its strategic potential within the context of Ceará.
