This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by Youth and Adult Education (EJA) students in rural education. It is based on the understanding that these individuals have complex social trajectories, historically marked by exclusion from formal educational settings. The qualitative research is based on a literature review and legal and pedagogical documents that guide EJA and Rural Education practices. The analysis highlights that, to guarantee the right to a quality education, it is essential that pedagogical proposals respect the sociocultural specificities of rural students and value the knowledge produced in their life contexts. This research draws on a theoretical framework based on authors who corroborate the study, including Arroyo (2012), Caldart (2012), Freire (1996), and Molina (2014), among others. In this sense, the importance of contextualized educational practices, grounded in a critical and transformative pedagogy, capable of promoting meaningful and emancipatory learning, is reaffirmed. The reflections presented aim to contribute to strengthening teacher training and consolidating public policies aimed at overcoming educational inequalities present in rural communities.
