This article aimed to analyze the influence of the inappropriate use of FM radio on the linguistic development of basic education students, considering language as a central axis of learning and social formation. Methodologically, it is a bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, based on studies that discuss the relationship between media, language, and education. Publications from 2010 to 2024 were selected in databases such as SciELO and Google Scholar. The analysis showed that the unmediated consumption of radio programs can interfere with the acquisition and use of language, reproducing deviations from the standard norm, impoverishing vocabulary, and reducing students' communicative clarity. It was also found that, when used critically and pedagogically, radio can become an effective resource for developing orality, active listening, and linguistic reflection. It is concluded that the challenge does not lie in the medium itself, but in how it is appropriated by the school, making teacher mediation essential to transform entertainment into meaningful learning.
